Middle Peninsula Regional Airport Seeking to Fill Manager's Position

The Middle Peninsula Regional Airport Authority is seeking a full-time Manager for the Middle Peninsula Regional Airport located in King and Queen County.

The Job Deadline is this week for the full-time position, which has a salary listing of $50-60,000 annually with benefits.

Mindy Conner has been serving as interim Manager until a replacement can be found.  

King William County is a member of the Authority, which also includes the counties of Gloucester, King and Queen, Mathews, Middlesex, New Kent, and the Town of West Point.  

The facility has a 5,000 foot runway and is adjacent to the historic York River.   It is accessible to a wide variety of aircraft.

Bluegrass Family Day at MPRA Gearing Up for 14th Annual Event

The Middle Peninsula Regional Airport will be host to the 14th Annual Bluegrass Family Day and Fly-In on June 25 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Along with live music from a variety of bands, there will be food and refreshments; silent auction; airplane rides; vendors and crafts; children’s activities; car show and swap meet; Fire & EMS display; and sky diving.

All proceeds go to the Lower King and Queen Fire & EMS Volunteer Company.  

McInteer Father-Daughter Combo Fare Well in South Carolina Shooting Event

The father-daughter combo of Jimmy and Samantha McInteer captured championships at the Hall of Fame Trap Shoot in Spartanburg, South Carolina.  The event was held April 2-3.

Jimmy won the Class D Singles event.  After preliminary events on Sunday, Samantha won the championship in the Junior category in Doubles and Handicap Yardage.  She lost the Singles event in a shoot-off by one successful shot.

Congratulations to both winners on a tremendous event and also great appreciation to our friends at the Country Courier for providing the information.

Unemployment Rate Drops to 2.6 Percent in March

After experiencing a spike to 3.0 in February, King William County’s unemployment rate dropped back down to 2.6 percent in March, according to state statistics.

There are over 9,000 King William County residents in the workforce, with 241 being without jobs at the time the statistics were compiled.
