Civilian Response and Casualty Care (CRCC)

Wednesday, September 7, 2022

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce the Civilian Response and Casualty Care (CRCC) course. This training, designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend / Run, Hide, Fight strategy developed by ALERRT in 2004, provides strategies, guidance and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. This course combines the civilian response with the Stop the Bleed Campaign, which empowers civilians to provide life-saving medical aid before first responders ever arrive. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options and basic medical intervention to reduce preventable causes of death.

Who should attend?

This training is being offered to responsibly concerned citizens. All citizens are welcome to attend. This training is also mandatory for King William County employees.

Training Time and Details

Check in for training will begin 30 minutes prior to session start time. Two sessions are available on September 7th - the sessions are identical. One is from 8am-Noon and the other is 1-5pm.

Cost and Registration

There is no fee to attend this training. Pre-registration is required on the DCJS website. Click on the button that says REGISTER. Choose the King William County event on September 7th. Please note, the website says the training is held at the 180 Horse Landing Road building. This is incorrect. Both sessions will be held at the Parks & Rec Community Center on Route 360 in Aylett.

NOTE: DUE TO SPACE LIMITATIONS, THIS TRAINING IS INTENDED FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE NOT ALREADY COMPLETED THIS COURSE.
