Amanda Tevis Named Director
of King William County Department of Social Services
King William County Administrator Percy Ashcraft has announced that Amanda Tevis will become the next Director of Social Services for King William County effective October 1.
Tevis, currently the Director of DSS for Westmoreland County, previously served King William County DSS for five years, including holding the position of Assistant Director before joining Westmoreland.
The DSS position has been open since April 29. Tevis will supervise a staff of 15 people in the Benefits, Family Services, and administrative units.
“We are very pleased to have Amanda return to our Agency,” commented Ashcraft. “She has extensive experience in all aspects of social services and her familiarity with the Agency will allow her to settle in right away.”
Tevis attended J. Sargeant Reynolds, Virginia Commonwealth University, and ECPI College of Technology on her way to obtaining a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. She has obtained numerous certifications in the field of social services that have prepared her for the top leadership position in the Agency.
Tevis also was highly recommended by law enforcement and court personnel for her previous work in King William County.
“She is the best fit to lead our Agency,” continued Ashcraft. “The dynamics of social services is ever-changing, and she has the experience to adjust to every situation. I am confident our citizens will be well-served under her leadership.”
